Under Construction
This blog is under construction.
I want to talk about that, but I don't want to make all my blog posts about that.
This page will be updated as and when I make changes to the site itself. This will include themes, tweaks to features, pages, navigation etc. etc.
For ideas that I have for the site, check out the Projects page.

Updates
2026
12 July Moved the tags to the top of the posts page (using this CSS code - thanks to Turbie for linking to that in his blog).
9 to 11 July Big overhaul of the theme. This one is built around the Thoughts default theme. I made a couple of changes. The first was to remove the googlefonts, and instead use built in fonts. I added underlines to links to make them clearer, and then, to add a bit of colour, I changed the link:hover from a black background to a colour change (from black to fuchsia).
9 July Tried out some big changes, but couldn't get what I wanted. For now, I have centred the header, and extended header and footer to 98% width.
Plan is for a fixed position header, similar to the default Bold theme, and seen on Quail's blog, but every time I added a display: flex to the header, the title adopted the nav decoration... More tinkering to do.
6 July A couple of small changes. I added the border from my 40k posts to the whole site, and I updated the class_name for the 40k posts (from batrep to fortyk).
On this page, I added a year to the top of updates, so I don't need to include the year in each update. Better to do this now so there are fewer 2026s to delete!
22 June I have played about with some of the colours. The dark mode theme background has been changed from a grey to a very dark green/blue, and I moved away from the dull orange and pink in favour for a red to complement the teals of the links.
19 June I added an about me page! There already was one, but it didn't really say any more than my homepage, so I just linked to that in my Nav. Now there is a bit more info about me.
18 June I have added a dark theme (you will have to toggle your native settings to see this as it is based on your @media preferences). Not 100% happy with it, so I will probably be tweaking it more soon.
Also updated Contact to be a new page rather than a mailto link. I have then added a link from the page to a Letterbird form where you can send me emails.
17 June A busy afternoon of tinkering. I overhauled the theme, moving from terminal to Archie. I removed the Google font from Archie (thanks to Citron for making me aware of that issue with the Archie theme) and changed the colours. I currently only have a light mode theme, but adding a dark mode is the next step.
In updating my theme, I lost my rudimentary CSS for the toast button. I used this as an opportunity to update it. Inspired by Sylvia's Anatomy of the toast button, I have used emojis this time. I have tried looking into if this will slowdown the webpage at all, but the main problem I foresee is browsers/operating systems not having those emoji and them not displaying properly/consistently. I might change this if this is the case.
2 June Tinkering with the colours of the page, still with the Terminal theme. I tried the default theme colours, but have settled on a sort of teal-y vibe (for now). Why am I doing this? Because I saw another blog on similar theme using almost the same greens and I want to be different!
I used this contrast checker to help make sure that the colours I used were readable. I prefer the dark mode colours, and I will probably revisit both light and dark again soon.
As a temporary measure, I have rolled the About and Home pages into one. This is mainly because I don't know what should be on each.
I move the "Last Updated" notices higher up on the pages. I guess if someone is revisiting, they can see sooner whether there is anything new to look at!
31 May Updated headings on this page to match other pages.
30 May Added blog to the review list, and it has now been approved - thanks Herman!
29 May The Construction page was created. See the top of the page for why.
I updated the toast button again. I tried to get the svg image to not be salmon after clicking, but instead tie it in with my theme. No luck with that, so I removed the image, and used a border similar to the one on this blog. For more toast button customising resources, see TakenVault's BearBlog Code page.
Added a light mode theme. Currently no way to toggle between them.
28 May Played around with themes and added pages. Added a Contact to the Nav menu to send me an email.
For theme, I used the Terminal theme, with custom colours. I used Colour Hex to help find the colours I wanted, along with some good old fashioned trial and error.
I also changed the toast button. I removed the numbers from the button, and replaced them with text. Hopefully this will stop me chasing the numbers. If you want to do the same, check out this post.
27 May Blog created. Basic homepage and first post made. I used the Low Vision Reader theme.
